It all started in my childhood, watching those colorful toy TV commercials from the 2000s. Some of the brands that stood out to me were: Bratz, Littlest Pet Shop, Polly Pocket, and Tamagotchi. I vaguely remember the curiosity that sparked from watching those and I remember thinking, “Why does this one commercial make me want that toy so badly?” This question led to many more and fueled my interest in marketing that has stayed with me ever since.
In high school, I decided to take a marketing class as an elective, which helped solidify that this was the path I wanted to pursue in college. After graduating, I moved four hours away to a college in West Texas, knowing no one. However, when the pandemic hit and everything started closing, I moved back home.
During college, my parents encouraged me to get an internship, and I’m forever grateful for that advice. I landed a part-time internship at a local corporation with a small marketing team in Dallas, which turned out to be an incredible opportunity. In August 2021, what began as a part-time role transformed into a full-time position. I started as a marketing intern, became a marketing assistant, and was eventually promoted to digital marketing manager, where my responsibilities continued to grow.
This internship allowed me to dive deep into digital marketing. I taught myself various skills, including social media strategy, content creation, and even how to run Facebook and TikTok ads—all while juggling my college coursework. The hands-on experience was invaluable and it helped me build a solid foundation.
After graduating from the University of North Texas in May 2024, I faced a pivotal moment in my life. With a mix of excitement and nerves, I decided to go full-time with my own business, Wren Social. The name “Wren” comes from a shortened version of my last name, but it also holds a special memory.
One afternoon, during a lunch break at my previous corporate job, I found myself daydreaming about the possibilities of Wren Social. As I sat outside, a few small wrens gathered at the table in front of me. At first, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Were they truly wrens? I quickly grabbed my phone and did a Google search. Scrolling through images, I confirmed they were. In that moment, I sat back in my seat and paused in disbelief. It felt like a sign from the universe, a gentle nudge that it was time to launch Wren.
With that inspiration, I put in my two weeks’ notice and officially launched Wren Social. Now, I have the privilege of helping businesses worldwide thrive in the digital space. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities, and I’m excited for what lies ahead.
Though I may not have a clear vision of every step in my journey, I find solace in my goals and passions. They act as a compass, guiding me through the uncertainty.
